Tracy Higgs — Friendship, Fire, and the Journey We Shared

Tracy Higgs, Friendship, Fire, and the Journey We Shared

Some friendships in this work are built quietly. Others are built through shared stages, long journeys, strong opinions, and the kind of honesty that only exists when two people are passionate about what they do.

My friendship with Tracy Higgs has always been a bit of all of that.

Tracy has been a friend of mine since 2013. That is well over a decade now, and in this line of work, that says a lot. We have seen each other grow, struggle, succeed, and keep going when things were not always easy. Through it all, there has always been respect between us, even when we did not always see eye to eye.

And believe me, there were times we did not see eye to eye.

We used to argue. Not in a nasty way, but in the way two strong-minded mediums sometimes do. We both had opinions, both had passion, and both cared deeply about the work. There were moments when conversations got heated, when we challenged each other, and when neither of us wanted to back down.

But here is the important part.

We always made friends after.

That is the mark of a real friendship. Not the absence of disagreement, but the ability to move through it and come out stronger on the other side. Looking back now, I can honestly say those moments helped shape our respect for one another. They showed that beneath the debate, there was always trust.

One of the things that connects Tracy and me is our shared link to Colin Fry.

Like me, Tracy had the privilege of touring and working alongside Colin. That experience leaves a mark on you. It teaches discipline, responsibility, and respect for the work. Anyone who stood on a stage with Colin understood the level of commitment required, and Tracy carried that understanding from a young age.

I remember watching her in those early years and thinking how determined she was. She was young, but she had fire. She wanted to learn, to improve, to prove herself, and she was not afraid to put in the work. That drive stood out to me then, and it still does now.

Over the years, I have watched her grow into a confident and capable medium in her own right. Not because things were handed to her, but because she earned her place. She showed resilience, dedication, and a willingness to keep going, even when the road was difficult.

That is why I hold her in such high regard.

In this profession, it is easy to judge from the outside. People see the stage, the lights, the audience, and the applause. What they do not see are the hours of travel, the emotional weight of the work, the pressure to be consistent, and the responsibility of representing Spirit properly. Tracy understands all of that, because she has lived it.

She also understands loyalty.

There have been times in this industry when friendships have been tested, when misunderstandings have happened, and when opinions have differed. Yet through it all, Tracy has remained someone I can respect. Someone I can speak to honestly. Someone who has never been afraid to stand her ground, but also never been afraid to make peace.

That balance is rare.

Our friendship has never been perfect, but it has always been real. We have laughed together, debated together, and supported each other in ways that people may never fully see. That is what matters.

I think back to those early days, when both of us were still carving our paths, learning from those who came before us, especially Colin. There was a sense of determination in the air, a shared understanding that this work is not just a career. It is a calling.

And we were both committed to it.

Today, when I look at Tracy, I do not just see a fellow medium. I see a friend who has walked a similar road. Someone who has stood in the same spotlight, faced the same challenges, and kept going with strength and resilience.

More than anything, I see someone who has earned my respect.

Friendship in this field is not always easy. It requires honesty, patience, and the ability to forgive. It requires understanding that strong personalities will sometimes clash, but that respect can still hold everything together.

That is exactly what our friendship has been.

We may have argued.
We may have disagreed.
But we always made friends afterwards.

And after all these years, that friendship is still there.

Strong. Honest. And built on mutual respect.
